Introduces the methodologies of the social sciences through an inquiry-focused approach to a topic. The course seeks to develop students' critical thinking skills through the exploration and application of social scientific methods. Individual sections will be taught in a particular discipline. SOCI 352 Quantitative Method & Analysis

This course will address the social scientific research process including an examination of research design, sampling and data analysis. Methods addressed include but are not limited to survey research and secondary data analysis. This course includes an introduction to descriptive and inferential analysis of data, including analysis using statistical computer software programs. (1) Lecture: 3 hrs/wk. 1 Unit

Requisites

  • SOCI-201 or ENST-105 or permission of the instructor. Must be taken prior to taking this course.
  • SOCI-350 is recommended.

A capstone course for the sociology major that includes an in-depth review and analysis of major themes within sociology. Requires completion of a qualitative and/or quantitative research project. (1) 1 Unit
