Introduces the methodologies of the social sciences through an inquiry-focused approach to a topic. The course seeks to develop students' critical thinking skills through the exploration and application of social scientific methods. Individual sections will be taught in a particular discipline. SOCI 237 Deviant Behavior

An examination of the concept of deviance and the various sociological perspectives on deviant behavior. Sociological, biological, and psychological theories of causation are used to study behaviors such as drug addiction and alcoholism, deviant sexual behavior, and mental illness.
