MUSC 107 St Ensemble: Broadway Musical

Varying styles of an instrument's repertoire taught on intermediate and advanced levels in a group context. In addition to issues in ensemble playing unique to the instrument, the following is covered: effective execution, physical position, tone production and intonation, extended techniques.(May be repeated for credit. MUSC 251L Music Theory I Lab

Diatonic part writing; melodic harmonization and figured bass realization; basic species counterpoint; introduction to tonal theory, harmonic analysis, and composing simple forms. Lecture: 1 hr/wk.; Laboratory: 3 hrs/wk.

  • Take MUSC-251 Must be taken either prior to or at the same time as this course.
