By comparing early theories of religion, testing classic definitions and concepts, we appreciate and evaluate modern and postmodern methods and theories in religious studies. Along the way we gauge the implications of thinking about religious studies as a distinct subject, but also think reflectively about our role as observers of the world's religions as part of vast landscapes of human experiences and cult.
